David Cubie, director of Newville’s John Graham Public Library, has resigned his position effective Friday, Aug. 24.
Jane Graham, president of the library’s board of directors, says Cubie has accepted a position at a New Jersey library about 20 miles outside New York City.
Cubie says Hillside, N.J. is a somewhat larger community that supports a larger program
Graham says Cubie made significant improvements at the library in his one-year tenure, making the programs more user-friendly and bringing more young male readers into the library fold.
“It was good for young boys in the community to have a male director,” Graham said. “We were lucky to have him (Cubie) for a year.”
Cubie says, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and the opportunity for what I hope was some good work.”
