All public libraries in Cumberland County will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 24 for staff education about library services, technologies and library system practices, according to a release from the Cumberland County Library System.
“This annual event keeps staff up-to-date on services that affect Cumberland County libraries and library visitors,” said training services coordinator Carolyn Blatchley. “About 150 staff members attend each year. The training sessions give library staff opportunities to learn leadership skills, new databases and technologies, how to be safe and healthy in the workplace as well as how to be even more effective in delivering library services. It’s always an enriching and energizing event.”
Online services, such as the library catalog, research databases and the system’s automated telephone circulation system, will be available to conduct library services during the closure. Each library also has either an outdoor return bin or book depository slots for return of items.
Normal operating hours at all locations will resume on Thursday, Oct. 25.
