2nd Annual Birdie for Books at the Fredricksen Library - over 400 golfers & $10,000 raised!
Thanks to the help of our sponsors, volunteers, participants, and staff, the 2nd Annual “Birdie for Books” event held Saturday, February 26 was a tremendous success!
The 18-hole mini-golf fundraiser was held in memory of the late Heath L. Allen, an avid golfer and supporter of the Fredricksen Library. More than 750 people attended the event, and more than 400 patrons of all ages played the challenging course. After they were finished, participants enjoyed fun, food, and raffle prizes at the 19th Hole Café, sponsored by the Cleveland Brothers. This phenomenal turnout exceeded even our highest expectations!
Fredricksen raised more than $10,000 from this year’s “Birdie for Books” fundraiser. This fun fundraiser helps us to raise needed income at a time when state financial support continues to decrease.

Cumberland County Library System UPGRADE - May 4 & 5
Please note that on Wednesday, May 4 and Thursday, May 5, our computer system will be upgraded. During these two days, you can still check out items and pick up holds, but you must have your library card (we won’t be able to look up your account; no other form of ID will be accepted on these two days). If you have been given permission to pick up holds for someone else, you must have that person’s card with you. Our library catalog will not be available nor will the self-checkout stations. No items will be due on these days, and no items can be checked in or renewed on these days. We won’t be able to place holds, accept payment for fines, or issue new library cards. However, our Internet computers will be still working! Thank you for your understanding and patience during this county-wide upgrade.

THANK YOU to our UNITED WAY Volunteers
of the Year & ALL of our Volunteers!
On Saturday March 26, our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held to thank our many volunteers for their hard work and dedication to our library. This wonderful group ranges in age from 12 to 89 years young and over 200 volunteers enjoyed music, food and fellowship. A thank you also goes to Thomas Malin, M.D., Gregg and Bette Aversa and the Friends of Fredricksen Library who underwrote this event.
The Rev. Canon and Mrs. Hoyt of Fredricksen Library, and Sue Folk of East Pennsboro Branch were honored as the United Way Volunteers of the Year and many volunteers were acknowledged for their hundreds of hours of service. For the month of April, our volunteers will also be highlighted with a display in our front lobby display case.  Read more about our volunteers & the event!

April Adult Events
Independent Film Fridays - Henry Poole Is Here
Friday, April 15 at 7 pm
Henry Poole (Luke Wilson) moves in to a house in his old neighborhood, to spend his few remaining days alone. Recent stucco work has left a brown stain in a patio wall and, to Henry's irritation, a neighbor is certain she can see the face of Jesus in the stain. She brings her priest, then others. His sheer annoyance at the discovery of this "miracle" ruptures his solitude and changes his life in a way he never suspected. Rated PG. No registration necessary.
