Stream Free Movies With Your Library Card

Kanopy Media Streaming Service BannerSample Kanopy home page

Residents of Cumberland County with Cumberland County Library Cards are able to stream movies from Kanopy, our media streaming service.

Cumberland County residents can access a wide range of foreign films, documentaries, and classics through the popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device, or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast, or Roku. The number of tickets and access period for each film is shown next to the play button. Videos are also accessible with captions, transcripts, and compatible with assistive technologies.

When you create a Kanopy account linked to your library card, you get 12 tickets each month to watch films. Each film will require a different number of tickets - anywhere from 0 to 5 tickets. For a more complete explanation see How tickets work (kanopy.com).

Kanopy now allows library patrons to access Kanopy Kids with unlimited plays for a rolling 30-days. Once a patron plays a Kanopy Kids video for more than 5 seconds, they will have unlimited views of any videos in Kanopy Kids for the next 30 days.

Another modification Kanopy has made is with Parental Controls. Parents can ensure their kids are viewing age-appropriate content on Kanopy by setting personalized PINs that, when enabled, keep kids inside Kanopy Kids. A patron will need to enter their PIN to exit Kanopy Kids and access the General Audience collection.
