25th Birthday Celebration at East Pennsboro
25th Birthday Celebration
Happy Birthday
East Pennsboro Branch Library!
And a birthday surprise to our patrons.
About 250 people attended East Pennsboro library’s 25th anniversary event on Sunday, October 24th, from 2 -5 pm, and a grand time was had by all.
Held in the gymnasium and outside parking lot of the Township Municipal Building, people of all ages gathered to visit and reminisce about the past 25 years which marked the library’s beginning in 1985.

There was something for everyone. For those who preferred the outdoors there were hotdogs, children’s games and pony rides. Indoors, attendees were treated to children’s crafts, and delicious desserts. A continuous ongoing pictorial presentation showcased many historical highlights of the previous 25 years.
Debbie Lupold, President of the Friends Association opened the celebration by introducing Wayne Melnick, President of the East Pennsboro Township Board of Commissioners, who spoke on behalf of East Pennsboro Township. Remarks were also presented by: Nathan Patterson, Board of Trustees President of Fredricksen and East Pennsboro Branch Library; Robert Gill, East Pennsboro Township Manager; Maryann Haft, East Pennsboro Branch Manager. Other speakers from Fredricksen and East Pennsboro Branch Library included Alicia Stine, Member Board of Trustee; Bonnie Goble, Director; and Wendy McClure, Human Resources Coordinator.
Courtney Purnell led the audience in the National Anthem and Michael Donovan graciously photographed the event.
To celebrate the occasion the Commissioners were presented with a plaque recognizing their support and thanking East Pennsboro Township for their continued support. Mr. Gill was also acknowledged for his dedication to the library.
The Friends association also presented a plaque to the library in memory of Beatrice Kelly, for her love and devotion and generous donation to the library.
And a special birthday surprise for our patrons….
We now have a media drop box, which we unveiled at our celebration. A media drop box was one of the most asked for requests by our patrons. And after many efforts by many people we were finally successful. Thanks to Friends of East Pennsboro, a media box was located from a fellow library near Philadelphia. They were replacing their media box and responded to our inquiry. The box was free and just needed to be picked up. (Thanks Leslie.) And thanks to our wonderful Township crew who repainted, refurbished and made the box look brand new. Better than new. Thank you everyone.
Happy Birthday all.
