Woman Writing
Calling All Writers! Bosler Library is pleased to annouce a 5-part writing group led by author and editor Melinda Downey Shultz. The Writers' Wordshop is open to writers of every genre and is intended to establish a safe place to follow whims, gain new perspective, and share ideas. Whether you are a poet, a novelist, or a blogger, the Writers' Wordshops can help you on your journey. Through hands-on writing practice and exploration of experimental themes, you will be immersed in the craft of writing and will learn techniques designed to focus and create depth in your work as well as your life as a writer.

Melinda Downey Shultz has an MFA in creative writing from Carlow University (Pittsburgh and Ireland) and is currently the editor of an environmental magazine; she has been a professional writer for more than twenty years, and is now bringing her expertise to the Bosler Library.

The group will utilize the "Sacred Circle Rules" from Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way as follows:

1.    Creativity flourishes in a place of safety and acceptance
2.    Creativity grows among friends, withers among enemies
3.    All creative ideas are children who deserve our protection
4.    All creative success requires creative failure
5.    Fulfilling our creativity is a sacred trust
6.    Violating someone's creativity violates a sacred trust
7.    Creative feedback must support the creative child and never shame it
8.    Creative feedback must build on strengths and never focus on weakness
9.    Success occurs in clusters and is born in generosity
10.  The good of another can never block our own
