In cooperation with the American Association of University Women, help us welcome Larissa Miller, President and CEO of Keystone Farm Future. With food security being our most critical global crisis, it’s time for us to re-evaluate our legacy business models for agriculture and farming, having the courage to discard the “way it’s always been done” in favor of innovation, security and sustainability. It is important to preserve our farmland, but even more important to preserve our farmers, through a return to consuming ‘local’, policies and regulations favorable to small- and medium-sized agribusiness and access to capital. No registration needed.

Join Dr. Joseph W. Shane, Professor of Chemistry and Science Education at Shippensburg University for this 4-part series that covers an essential topic of discussion. Dr. Shane will emphasize historical and contemporary approaches to thinking about relationships between science and religion, the basics of evolutionary theory and the ongoing social and legal controversies, as well as the importance of becoming science-religion “boundary pioneers.” The final session will be an open-ended panel discussion with local science educators, clergy, and scientists. Although attending all 4 classes is recommended, it is not required. Registration is open.

Come and join your fellow military history aficionados in a meaningful discussion about battles and other military events ranging from circa 1000 BCE up to recent military history. The first half of the discussion will focus on the facts of the battle and the second half will be dedicated to opinions and conjectures about the battle. Everyone will be given equal time to participate in both halves of the discussion. We will wrap up the roundtable with a vote on the topic for the next session. The three priorities for this group are having fun, learning new things, and hopefully developing new friendships. Registration suggested, but not required.
