We are excited to host the next Red Cross Blood Drive in the bigger, brighter conference room at the Learning and Book Sale Center on 45 W. Allen St., Mechanicsburg! This will allow for a faster and more comfortable collection.
The Red Cross has been making a humanitarian impact for more than 130 years and has been collecting blood for over 70 of those years. We can all be part of something important when we work with the Red Cross to strengthen the blood supply and give back to our community.
If you are a regular blood donor and want to make an appointment, go to https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=SimpsonLibrary. This will bring up the available appointments. If this is your first time to donate blood, go to https://www.redcrossblood.org/ and click on “Am I Eligible to Donate Blood?” before you try to make an appointment.

7 pm – 8:30 pm in the Community Room, Lower Level
In partnership with the Master Gardeners of Cumberland County, we will be offering a new gardening topic on the third Tuesday of each month. Learn how to showcase your garden with outstanding splashes of yellow, red, and purple. This presentation highlights native trees and shrubs with bright foliage as well as other long-blooming fall plants. The registration fee is $5.00 and the registration deadline is Monday, September 19. Register online or call Penn State Extension Registration Services toll-free at 1-877-345-0691. Walk-ins will be accepted if space is available.

This round table discussion will apply the Socratic Method to help delve into philosophical discussions and give you an opportunity to share your opinions in a neutral and respectful way without interruption. Each month the group will choose a philosophical issue and everyone attending will have the opportunity to learn and discuss with others in an open and respectful environment. What a great way to expand your mind and reach further with your thoughts! Ages 18 and up, please. Registration is suggested. The group typically meets the second Monday of each month.

Donating blood may be one of the most important things you’ve ever done. Just one pint of your blood can save as many as four lives. Come and donate in Fredricksen's lower parking lot (Walnut Street). The Central PA Blood Bank is here on the first Friday of every month. It is a safe and easy process which takes approximately 45 minutes. Generally, anyone age 16 or older, weighing at least 110 pounds and in good health, can donate blood. We strongly suggest you schedule an appointment to donate blood. Appointments help us improve your donation experience. A form of ID is required to donate. Go to 717giveblood.org or call the number listed below.
