As part of our Daytime Academy at Fredricksen Library, we are offering language immersion conversation groups on a regular basis. All levels welcome. Some experience in the language is necessary. Our leaders will guide you through discussion, conversation and culture of your chosen language. No registration necessary. (No Class 4/21)

If you have always wanted to learn the Italian language, this is a great time to do it in the comfort and safety of your home and in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Italian for Beginners classes have successfully been offered in person at Fredricksen for more than 3 years by instructor Anna Maria Bertini Jones. The current situation has opened up the opportunity to explore online instruction options to make the learning experience even more effective and enjoyable. You will still be learning the basics of the Italian language through interactive online classes and group work, but it will also be possible to use a variety of online multimedia resources to develop basic conversation skills and get in touch with cultural topics like cuisine, art, movies, lifestyle, etc.

Classes are very easy to access. You will receive a Zoom link invitation; click on the link and you will be automatically directed to your classroom. During class time students will be learning and collaborating with the instructor’s help and direction. No specific technological skills are required. All you need is a computer/ laptop/tablet and a printer. Ages 16 and older. Cost: $120 for 10 classes. Students will be advised to also purchase a book online. Registration opens February 15 online, by phone, or in person at the library.

Twisted Stitchers is back in person! Join us for an informal and fun gathering centered around knitting and crochet. Twisted Stitchers will meet on the 2nd Monday of each month. 16 years and older, please. Registration is recommended so you receive an email reminder.

Each month the group will choose a philosophical issue and everyone attending will have the opportunity to learn and discuss with others in an open and respectful environment. What a great way to expand your mind and reach further with your thoughts! Ages 18 and up, please. Registration begins April 15. The group typically meets the second Monday of each month.
