Come improve your English skills in speaking, reading, writing, and listening by taking English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Improve your English pronunciation and grammar. Learn how to navigate the English-speaking world by filling out forms, talking on the telephone, writing and responding to texts and emails, making appointments, going to doctor’s appointments. Lessons will include discussions of American culture and we can advise you on preparing for the citizenship exam. This (8-week) course is taught by two experienced instructors who will tailor the class to your individual needs. Please note: there is no childcare available. Instructor's Bios:
Ann Heermans-Booth has spent her adult life in teaching. She taught Latin for 33 years in the West Shore area at The Harrisburg Academy, Cedar Cliff High School, and Camp Hill Middle/High School. She retired in 2015. Since her retirement, she has taught part-time at Dickinson College and been a volunteer ESL tutor and teacher in Carlisle and Mechanicsburg. Ann lives in Carlisle. She loves to play Pickleball. She has been part of a book group for 20 years.

Kim King is a certified language teacher and writer who is fluent in French. Retired from Cedar Cliff High School after 35 years, she teaches English as a Second Language at the Pennsylvania Center for Refugees and Immigrants (PACRI) and volunteers on the Education Committee of the Mortel Foundation/High Hopes for Haiti. She also teaches ESL classes at the Hershey Public Library. Kim is a poet and lives in Hershey with her husband and two Samoyeds.

To drop off donations, please park in the lower parking lot off Walnut Street close or near the sidewalk. Donations of one box or less can be dropped off at the Reference Desk whenever the Library is open. Thank you for thinking of the Friends when you have extra books.
