Join author Fred Burton in a discussion of his book, Man Made, a near-future portrayal that is eerily familiar. In his book, the AI, social media, and surveillance tools are more advanced, and the populace more dispirited, with cyborg intelligence at the forefront. We have entered an age where many of us feel there is no center and no agreed upon sources of truth. We are creeping, or lunging, towards authoritarianism. Man Made provides answers that sometimes conflict, but deserve to be discussed and challenged.

Are you looking for a way to reduce stress and anxiety while also improving concentration? Led by experienced practitioners of meditation, we will gather in community for silent meditation. This program is for adults and no registration is necessary.
Paint Night with Local Artisan Andrea Weaver. This event will feature a painting with a Christmas/Winter theme. Registration is required and there is a $30 cost, which includes a canvas, all paint supplies, and an easel. Snacks and bottled water will be provided. Visit the library to sign up and pay to reserve your spot.
Barbara Bingham from YWCA Greater Harrisburg will join us to discuss the serious issue of human trafficking in Pennsylvania, particularly along the busy U.S. Route 15 corridor. The YWCA created the PAATH 15 Crossroads (Pennsylvania Alliance Against Trafficking in Humans) division specifically to combat this modern-day slavery and assist its victims.
Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery that involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Victims can be both international and domestic, and the forms of trafficking include labor and/or sex.
The YWCA offers crucial services to victims of human trafficking, including legal services, housing, and counseling. Ms. Bingham will help us understand the full impact of this situation and, most importantly, what we should do if we suspect we are witnessing someone in need of help.

Join Glen Dunbar, Social Gerontologist and college professor, in this series of roundtables covering the basics of elder care and providing an opportunity for sharing firsthand experiences in a non-judgmental way. The sessions are suitable for both caregivers and potential care recipients. Topics for discussion include:
November 11: Responsible planning for the final stage of life, including powers of attorney, wills, advance care directives, family talk, hospice care, and getting through “not ready yet” procrastination.
