Fredricksen Reads

The books we're reading are award winners (The Booker Prize) or have been featured in the public space as a good read. Join us as we discuss these literary gems. You are welcome to attend whether or not you have read or listened to the selection. Ages 18+. Books selected for Fredricksen Reads will be listed on the Fredricksen Library online events calendar.
Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder by Salman Rushdie
Salman Rushdie was the victim of a horrific act of violence that shook the literary world and beyond. Rushdie relives the traumatic events of that day and its aftermath, as well as his journey toward physical recovery and the healing that was made possible by the love and support of his wife, Eliza, his family, his army of doctors and physical therapists, and his community of readers worldwide.

Book Dragon Club: Book Keepers

Book Keepers meets monthly to discuss the best of YA literature. Each month you will get a book to read and review. We will also watch movie adaptations of YA books. This program is for teens ages 13-18. Registration is required and begins August 1.

Our new Book Dragons Club is your place to meetup with other teens who love to read and be creative. There will be a slate of programs under the banner of “Book Dragon Club” including writing programs, craftivism programs, open mic nights, social meetings, reading challenges, civic engagement and more all dedicated to celebrating teens and the Humanities. These programs are sponsored by the PA Humanities Council. These programs are for teens ages 13-18.
Book Keepers meets monthly to discuss the best of YA literature. Each month you will get a book to keep. Some months we will all read the same title, some months we will all read our own choice and share our reactions. This program is for teens ages 13-18. No registration required.
