Learn Coding with Scratch

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Kunkel Creation Station

Join us in the Kunkel Creation Station as we learn the language computers speak and the way they speak it! Children will first be taught about binary–the base-two system computers use to function. Then, they will break out into teams and “code” their teammates to complete a task! The key will be thinking like a computer! Sign up now; spots are limited! Recommended ages 10-12. Wee Build Open Play

Wee BuildHands-on learning builds strong brains! For babies through age 6. No registration needed. Just drop in between 9:30 am and 12:00 Noon on Fridays for open play and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) building activities and imaginative play. 

WEE BUILD

Come build with us! Through play, your child discovers shapes, learns how blocks can be balanced, observes how they fall, and discovers what fits together. These playful explorations are the foundation of later mathematical and scientific thinking – plus it's fun!

Join us for an afternoon of board games, card games, games of skill and strategy. Fun for the entire family. The library has a stash of games to choose from or you are welcome to bring your own. Ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No registration necessary.

Learn Scratch at the library!

Wednesday, July 9, 2 – 3 pm

Kunkel Creation Station 

Join us to learn basic programming the fun way with Scratch, a website designed by MIT to teach children the fundamentals of coding. This is an introductory-level event for children. We will show children how to use the website and even create their own games! Recommended Ages 8 – 10. Registration Required.

Read to Dogs

6pm in the Children's Library

Specially trained dogs from K-PETs will be at the library to listen to children read aloud. This program is helpful to children who may be shy or reluctant to read aloud and will encourage them to practice reading independently. For budding readers.  

Recommended ages 6 to 12. Registration required.
