Join the Friends of New Cumberland Public Library as we welcome the New Cumberland Town Band for a patriotic 4th of July concert on the Library Lawn. There will be concessions for sale in Foundation House by the Friends of the Library during the concert.

Literary Legends Kickoff

Literary Legends Kickoff Party

Register for 6:00 pm or 6:30 pm to reserve your family snack pack, craft supplies, and a spot to enjoy our kickoff entertainment of Mark DeRose. We will also have a special raffle for those who attend! This event will be held outdoors (weather permitting), so be sure to bring a blanket or chairs to enjoy!

Kindergarten Prep Camp (for children going into Kindergarten in Fall 2024)

July 8-11, 9-10 AM OR 11 AM-12 PM- Kindergarten Prep (For children going into Kindergarten in Fall 2024) - Join us for kindergarten camp. Choose one of the sessions 9:00-10:00 or 11:00-12:00. Adults must accompany children during the event. Children will get to practice important skills to help get ready for kindergarten. We will work on social, literacy, and math skills through books, crafts, and hands-on activities. *Both weeks of Kindergarten Camp will have the same activities, please only attend one week.

Adventure begins at the library this summer with our free summer camps! Camps are designed around themes and include reading, discussion, hands-on activities, special library programs, and conclude with group lunchtime. Each morning, camper goers will meet in the children’s library before spending time outside.  

Families will need to provide a brown bag lunch, water bottle, and ensure their child has sunscreen applied as the children will be spending time outdoors weather permitting. Healthy vegetarian snacks will be provided. If your child has food allergies/sensitivities or has a special diet, please pack snacks for your child and notify our librarian programmers about food allergies/sensitivities/diet. 

Camps are limited to 15 individuals. A waitlist will be enabled. If you registered for a space your child can no longer keep, please cancel the reservation so another child on the waitlist can register. REGISTER

Eco Warriors Meetup (ages 13-18)

Aug 5-9, 2-5 PM – Eco Warriors Meetup (Ages 13-18) Join us for Eco Warriors where we learn more about climate science, sustainability, climate action, and problem solve solutions to local, state, national, and global issues. Each day will tie into a specific theme (i.e. fast fashion, food, consumer habits, deforestation) and build on geographical scales (i.e. local and state to national to global).

Camps are designed around themes and include reading, discussion, hands-on activities, special library programs, and conclude with group lunchtime. Each morning, camper goers will meet in the children’s library before spending time outside.

Aug 5-9, 9 AM-Noon – Theatre Kids (Ages 10-12) Join us for Theatre Kids Camp. Each day will focus on character development, experimentation with scenes, and putting on a performance.

Art Camp

July 29-Aug 2, 9 AM-Noon – Art Camp (Ages 8-12) Join us for Art Camp where you will learn about different artists and artistic styles. Activities will include looking at works by famous artists, replicating art by the artist, and creating our own art using their style. You will learn about: Pablo Picaso, Henri Matisse, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Vincent Van Gogh.

Air Weaver Balloons

Tuesday, July 23 at 10: 30 am, Community Room  

The Air Weaver Super Terrific Happy Funtime Balloon Show of Pure and Complete Awesomeness! (Big Balloon Show for short) connects to kids and adults of all ages and brings together magic, balloon artistry, storytelling and tons of audience engagement for a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.     Recommended Ages 0 –18. No registration required.
