Local artist and illustrator Shelly Lipscomb will join us for this special storytime and activity to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. during Black History Month. She will share her book “My Elephant-Sized Dream” and lead a thoughtful activity to enhance the learning themes. A book-signing will follow for anyone wishing to purchase a copy at the event!

Children interested in reading practice can sign up to read to a therapy animal. Caring Hearts Pet Therapy program seeks to improve a child’s reading and communication skills with the assistance of trained therapy animal teams. Children are encouraged to read, engage, and connect with the pet independently. Bring your favorite book or two to share with one of our animal friends.
