Five Thursdays: Jan. 4 - Feb. 1 Small Meeting Room
Interested in doing your part towards environmental sustainability? Do you have a vegetable garden, orchard or do you enjoy planting? Raising your own honeybees can increase your yield tenfold, plus these fascinating creatures will have the opportunity to enjoy your established floral habitat. In this 5-week classroom course you will learn the principles of beekeeping, honey bee biology, honey bee safety, how to read a hive, honey bee nutrition, honey bee communication, and more. However, beekeeping is not for everyone as there is a learning curve to ensure you become a responsible beekeeper. Additionally, not all 101 courses are created equal. Cornell Master Beekeeper Tiffany Ayres has had over twenty years’ experience in adult training and in this course offers lessons structured to help the “newbee” beekeepers retain the shared information and apply to their own bees. For more information or questions see SayBees Apiary on Facebook. This is the perfect time to initiate a new adventure into the hive just in time for the season to kick off. Cost is $150 for all 5, 2-hour sessions. Registration required.
