This program developed by Jane Goodall is a youth service program which helps empower young people to become leaders who build a better world. The mission of the program is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, other animals, and the environment. Ages 5 - 8. Registration required.

June - Learn about Orangutan caretakers and write thank you letters to The Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia for Miss Susan to bring with her to Indonesia.

Kathleen Jacobs and Puppets presents Magic Pots and Recycled Bottles! Jump headfirst into fun as a wacky cleaning lady uses recyclables to create a crew of unforgettable puppet characters and recycles old folktales into a script. With the help of the audience, Kathleen and puppets perform hilarious versions of tales first told in South America, Europe and Asia. Recommended ages 0 - 18. No registration required.

Ryan the Bug Man

We are so excited to welcome back, Ryan Bridge, “The Bug Man,” to Fredricksen Library! He will present an all-ages event focusing on how people are taught to dislike and thus, be afraid of bugs and insects. Breaking stereotypes and common fears about the most important creatures on our planet, he will teach everyone that “nothing in Nature WANTS to harm us.” Best of all, everyone will have a chance to pet and hold Live Bugs! Keeping insect education fun and exciting, audiences will experience the world of Entomology like never before! Recommended ages 0 - 18 years old. No registration required.

The War Room: Military History Roundtable

mil1st Tuesday of each month, 6 pm - 8:30 pm
Small Meeting Room, Lower Level

Come and join your fellow military history aficionados in a meaningful discussion about battles and other military events ranging from circa 1000 BCE up to recent military history. The first half of the discussion will focus on the facts of the battle and the second half will be dedicated to opinions and conjectures about the battle. Everyone will be given equal time to participate in both halves of the discussion. We will wrap up the roundtable with a vote on the topic for the next session. The three priorities for this group are having fun, learning new things, and hopefully developing new friendships. Ages 16+.  TOPIC: Sherman's March to the Sea 1864
