Children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2020 will do kindergarten readiness activities, hear stories, meet other future students and make early friendships! Registration is open. The last day to register is January 31.

This month's Mission Transition will be held on December 9 for children from all the school districts to celebrate the December holidays!

5 pm - 6 pm in the Kunkel Creation Station, Lower Level
Come learn more about coding through hands-on, exciting games and activities! Learn how to use Bee Bots, Sphero Robots, and Makey Makeys! Those registering for all six sessions will get preferential registration. For ages 8 - 12, register starting Oct. 7. This program will have the same content as the Junior Coding Club that ran in June/July 2019.

Meet Someone New in our Biography Club! Explore the life of a famous historical figure through activities and crafts. This fall will focus on people that were the "first" to do something outstanding. This month we discover Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play major league baseball. For ages 6 – 9 with registration required beginning September 23.

Come improve your English skills in speaking, reading, writing, and listening by taking English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Improve your English pronunciation and grammar. Learn how to navigate the English-speaking world by filling out forms, talking on the telephone, writing and responding to texts and emails, making appointments, going to doctor’s appointments. Lessons will include discussions of American culture and we can advise you on preparing for the citizenship exam. This (8-week) course is taught by two experienced instructors who will tailor the class to your individual needs. Please note: there is no childcare available. Please register by calling 717-761-3900 x225 or in person at the Reference Desk. 

Instructor's Bios:
Ann Heermans-Booth has spent her adult life in teaching. She taught Latin for 33 years in the West Shore area at The Harrisburg Academy, Cedar Cliff High School, and Camp Hill Middle/High School. She retired in 2015. Since her retirement, she has taught part-time at Dickinson College and been a volunteer ESL tutor and teacher in Carlisle and Mechanicsburg. Ann lives in Carlisle. She loves to play Pickleball. She has been part of a book group for 20 years.

Kim King is a certified language teacher and writer who is fluent in French. Retired from Cedar Cliff High School after 35 years, she teaches English as a Second Language at the Pennsylvania Center for Refugees and Immigrants (PACRI) and volunteers on the Education Committee of the Mortel Foundation/High Hopes for Haiti. She also teaches ESL classes at the Hershey Public Library. Kim is a poet and lives in Hershey with her husband and two Samoyeds.
