Poster Contest

Hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, and the National Garden Clubs Inc., this content is an opportunity for local garden clubs to connect with their communities and raise awareness of the importance of caring for the environment and protecting wildfires. Children in grades 1-5 are invited to participate in this annual drawing contest featuring conservation icons Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl!
All participants will get a certificate and small prize, and one winner from each grade level will be selected to enter the state competition. National winners will receive a check for $50, and one grand prize winner will be honored at a ceremony and receive a free 3-night stay in Washington, D.C.! Those who cannot attend the event may submit a poster by this date for to be considered in the contest. Strict rules apply, so please email eyoung@cumberlandcountylibraries.org for complete details.

Caring Hearts Pet Therapy program seeks to improve a child’s reading and communication skills with the assistance of trained therapy animal teams. Children are encouraged to read, engage, and connect with the pet independently. Bring your favorite book or two to share with one of our animal friends.
