6:30 pm - 8 pm in the Children's Library, Lower Level
Specially trained dogs from K-PETs will be at the library to listen to children read aloud. This program is helpful to children who may be shy or reluctant to read aloud and will encourage them to practice reading independently. For budding readers, ages 6 - 12. Registration required.
10:30 am - 11:15 am, Outdoors or Community Room
Yoga classes designed just for grade schoolers! Join Ann Fields, founder of Peaceful Poses Kids Yoga, for some mindful movement, deep breaths, and ways we can learn about our feelings. Our mat chats include tools for going back to school, test taking, and dealing with stress and anxiety. We read books, listen to music, and hang out on our yoga mats. This class is appropriate for grades Kindergarten - 6th grade. Registration required. Sponsored by Penn State Health Children's Hospital.

Join us as we celebrate all the wonderful mothers in our library community! We will read a themed story and make a craft for all the special moms in our lives.

Children will complete kindergarten readiness activities, hear stories, and make friendships with other future students! It will be most helpful to your child if you are able to attend as many sessions as possible. This program is designed for children who will begin kindergarten in the fall of 2022. Kindergarten Prep (known as Mission Transition during the school year) will occur outside on the library lawn near the lower level parking lot. In cases of inclement weather, it will be canceled. Registration required. *No session July 4.

Join Music, Play, Patrol for a unique experience to add to our summer of fun! This program gets both adults and kids up moving and dancing to the beat! Children get to learn about and play an authentic African djembe and play other West African instruments like the Talking Drum, Shekere, and Gourd Drum. The session ends with a dance and drum circle. Seating is limited. First come, first served. *Program will move inside if weather is an issue. *NOTE: The East Pennsboro Branch program scheduled for 1:30 pm has moved to Fredricksen Library.

This interactive show is crawling with fun and laughter! Presented by Forgotten Friend's herpetologist, author, photographer, and certified class clown, Jesse Rothacker. Jesse the Reptile Guy brings learning to life with fifteen live snakes, lizards, turtles, and crocs. You'll meet reptiles from around the world, and a few from your own backyard! Seating is limited. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day at the library?
Join us for a beautiful midsummer evening on the library lawn! Our folly will include excerpts from Midsummer Night's Dream, "open mic" sonnets, storytelling, and music. We will also have flowers, lights, fairies, crafts, and sweets! Bring your lawn blankets and enjoy a lovely evening of enchantment.

Ryan is a passionate entomologist and loves teaching people about insects while “keeping it fun and exciting.” He hosts a wide range of fun and educational programs using LIVE BUGS!
