Hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, and the National Garden Clubs Inc., this content is an opportunity for local garden clubs to connect with their communities and raise awareness of the importance of caring for the environment and protecting wildfires. Children in grades 1-5 are invited to participate in this annual drawing contest featuring conservation icons Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl!
All participants will get a certificate and small prize, and one winner from each grade level will be selected to enter the state competition. National winners will receive a check for $50, and one grand prize winner will be honored at a ceremony and receive a free 3-night stay in Washington, D.C.! Those who cannot attend the event may submit a poster by this date for to be considered in the contest. Strict rules apply, so please email eyoung@cumberlandcountylibraries.org for complete details.

Holiday Open House

Christmas tree icon with a string of colorful lightsSpecial Holiday Activities at New Cumberland Library, 10:30am – 12:00 pm.
Join the Library’s crafting group in the 2nd floor meeting room to create a special holiday craft (ages 14+), and enjoy holiday puzzles and activities throughout the Library. Little ones ages 3+ can create a special ornament in the Children’s Room. The Friends of the Library will hold a book sale from 9:00am-3:00pm in Foundation House with holiday specials.

Santa's Workshop

Santa’s elves have brought a workshop to Fredricksen Library just for kids! Help Santa’s elves by making gifts for your family. Enjoy holiday music, popcorn and hot chocolate, face painting and the season of giving. Recommended ages 4 - 18. This event will have two identical sessions. Register for one session only. 

Children's Sessions
Session 1: 1 pm - 2:30 pm Registration required.
Session 2: 2:30 pm- 4 pm Registration required.

Teen Sessions Ages 13 - 18 (held in the KCS)
Session 1: 1 pm - 2:30 pm REGISTER

*Teen crafts include 3D Snowflake Paper Lanterns, Snowman Tea Light Ornaments, fridge magnets, ornaments and snow globes.
