Come and donate blood to the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank – the bus will be parked along Walnut Street near Fredricksen’s lower parking lot. Registration is inside the library’s lower level lobby. 2 pm in the Community Room, Lower Level 
This round table discussion will apply the Socratic Method to help delve into philosophical discussions and give you an opportunity to share your opinions in a neutral and respectful way without interruption. Each month the group will choose a philosophical issue and everyone attending will have the opportunity to learn and discuss with others in an open and respectful environment. What a great way to expand your mind and reach further with your thoughts! Ages 18 +. The group typically meets the second Monday of each month.

Join in this gathering of embroidery enthusiasts for an afternoon of working on your own project, sipping some tea (tea is provided, bring your own mug!) and chatting with others. Learn some needlework tips, tricks and trends in the craft of embroidery. Don’t have a current project? Just come and be inspired to start one!

The books we're reading are award winners (The Booker Prize) or have been featured in the public space as a good read. Join us as we discuss these literary gems. You are welcome to attend whether or not you have read or listened to the selection. Ages 18+. Books selected for Fredricksen Reads will be listed on the Fredricksen Library online events calendar.

April: The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan 

Overwhelmed by the state of the world and in search of peace, the author turned to the natural world just beyond her window and, specifically, the birds flocking to the feeders in her yard. Her story maps the passage of time--from before the pandemic to the days of quarantine--through daily entries, thoughtful questions, and beautiful original sketches. Registration required.

From its formation 4.5 billion years ago to the present, learn about the history of our planet Earth. Explore profound changes the Earth has gone through over time and how these changes have affected life, how life has undergone major transformations and mass extinctions, how the geology and atmosphere have evolved and more. Program presenter, Robert Naeye, has worked at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (MD), has been a science journalist for more than 30 years, served on the editorial staffs of Discover and Astronomy Magazines, and has also served as editor in chief of Mercury and Sky & Telescope Magazines.

Being a caregiver is often a difficult, complicated, unappreciated task, but possibly one of the most important roles you will ever play. This series of five workshops will cover the basics and present an opportunity for participants to share their personal experiences and challenges for the benefit of others in a non-judgmental way. Sessions are facilitated by Glen Dunbar, a semi-retired social gerontologist. No registration required.
