Dances of Universal Peace

Sunday, September 8 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Community Room  

Led by Yasmin Haut and musician friends, the Dances explore sacred phrases for many of the world’s great spiritual traditions combined with simple folk-dance movement. All are welcome to join as we focus on this simple practice to achieve greater understanding, forgiveness and trust. Wear comfortable clothing. No registration necessary.

Gardening with Nature Series

Fredricksen Library has teamed up with Penn State Master Gardeners of Cumberland County to bring you a series of workshops about creating a garden while preserving a healthy environment. This month's topic is Stormwater Friendly Lawn Care. Learn five techniques to make your yard more water friendly including lawn downsizing, eliminating unnecessary grass fertilizer, mowing properly, minimizing soil compaction, and practicing perfect pest management. Learn how your yard can help reduce runoff, become better habitat, and improve water quality in the Susquehanna River. Presented by Andy Yencha, Water Resources Educator, Penn State Extension. $5.00 fee payable to Master Gardeners at the door.

Each meeting will have a genealogical theme which we will discuss before we try out the resources related to the theme. Paragon of People's Music - Celebrating Bruce Springsteen's 75th Birthday!

Friday, September 13, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm in the Community Room 

There are very few people who can match Bruce's output of classic, memorable, and vital songs over a career of over fifty years (and continuing). We will sing songs from Bruce's vast catalog of vital songs. Join us for a celebration of "The Boss," his music, and his contributions to U.S. culture. Songs, commentary, projections (including lyrics) presented by guitarist, singer, and West Chester University professor, Doug Morris. All are welcome (spread the word - the more people, the more energy).

Moving Forward Book Group: Suffering is Never for Nothing--CANCELLED

Wednesday, September 4 – Suffering is Never for Nothing by Elisabeth Elliot

Join us for Moving Forward, a book discussion series geared towards those who have suffered a loss or tragedy and could use an infusion of hope. In cooperation with Hospice of Central PA, we will be reading books focusing on the redemptive power of the human spirit. When we walk through suffering, it has the potential to devastate and destroy, or to be the gateway to gratitude and joy. Elisabeth Elliot was no stranger to suffering. Ages 18 +. You do not have to read or listen to the book to attend. Registration is required.
