Fredricksen Library has teamed up with Penn State Master Gardeners of Cumberland County to bring you a series of workshops about creating a garden while preserving a healthy environment. This month's topic is Growing Pumpkins and Gourds in the Home Garden. They come in all shapes and sizes! You can carve them and you can craft them! Learn how to plant, care for, and harvest these annual “viney” plants that love to crawl and sprawl about your garden. Donna Ricketts, Penn State Master Gardener, will share best practices and tips for growing that “great” Charlie Brown pumpkin and the perfect birdhouse gourd. Each attendee will receive a packet of pumpkin or gourd seeds. $5.00 fee. Register online.

Natalie Marioni, Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program Coordinator can help you determine where stormwater originates on your property, how it impacts local creeks and rivers, and the proper practices you could adopt to reduce runoff, conserve water and support wildlife.
