Natalie D. Craumer Writers’ Workshop: The Art and the Craft of Writing the Story

In this class we will take the elements of writing and discuss not only the tools and the craft, but also dig into the artistic expression. This is not a class on editing, per se, but a class on the art of Dialogue, Show vs. Tell, Character and Emotion. We will learn through discussion time and writing time. Class will be led by author Catherine Jordan. Ages 18 and older, please. Registration begins February 1 and closes on March 2 at 9 am. *Masks are required and Social Distancing will be in place.

Join author Catherine Jordan as she guides you on your writing path. Each class will open with a writing lesson followed by questions. At least one hour of time will be devoted to writing with the goal of learning to set a habit and overcome the “no time to write” excuse. Submission opportunities will be shared. Ages 18 and up. Registration is closed. (Two make up classes will be held on Wednesdays in October via Zoom - TBD). *Social distancing and masks required.

Natalie D. Craumer Writers’ Workshop: Draft to Publication

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Masland Board Room, Lower Level

Join author Catherine Jordan as she guides you from draft to publication. Participants are asked to bring a rough draft of a short story on Day One. The story will be shared, critiqued for structure and flow, edited, and then submitted for publication. This class will focus on practicum-writing and the business of writing. Fiction only; no screenplays or poetry. Word count must be at least 500 words. Ages 18 and up. Registration for new students begins February 1- please register by calling 717-761-3900 x225. Registration begins online for returning students on February 15.

Natalie D. Craumer Writers’ Workshop: The Creative Writing Portfolio

8 Tuesdays: September 3 - 24, & October 1 - 29 (no class Oct. 8)

Join author Catherine Jordan as she guides you through building a creative writing portfolio. Classes will focus on short stories and will include a reader critique, with each piece geared toward themes designed to strengthen skills such as POV, tension, pacing, and character.
