Registration is inside the library’s lower- level lobby. There’s something fun for everyone in the library’s stash of board games, card games, and other tabletop games. Or you can bring a favorite from home. Meet and play with other gamers or bring friends and family for an afternoon of logic, strategy, and fun. Ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No registration necessary.

Learn short, easy 15-minute meditations to calm the mind. Meditation is an ancient tool to calm anxiety, worry, depression, and more. Led by Buddhist nun, Kelsang Chondzin, a teacher and practitioner of almost 20 years, these meditations are suitable for people of any religion. Everyone is welcome! No registration necessary.

Angels have been a source of joy, comfort, and inspiration since ancient times.  Many people associate them with biblical and Christian themes, but celestial beings by other names are part of non-Christian cultures and predate what we consider the Bible with some biblical descriptions of angels differing significantly from images depicted in artwork, including religious artwork.  Even more intriguing is that some angels described in biblical verses are anything but joyful and comforting.  This workshop aims to shed light on the diverse types and roles of angels and explores depictions of angels in some fantastic ancient and modern art. We will conclude with a discussion session in which you will share your thoughts about angelic spirits around us, and perhaps, your techniques and desires for connecting with them. Glen Dunbar, social gerontologist and policy specialist for state and federal agencies, is the program presenter.

Led by Yasmin Haut and musician friends, the Dances explore sacred phrases for many of the world’s great spiritual traditions combined with simple folk-dance movement. All are welcome to join as we focus on this simple practice to achieve greater understanding, forgiveness and trust. Wear comfortable clothing. No registration necessary.
