July 10: Xeriscape Gardening  

Donna Ricketts, Penn State Extension Master Gardener of Cumberland County, will give an introduction on rain barrels followed by a presentation on Xeriscape Gardening. What is a xeriscape garden and what are the benefits of planting one? Learn the seven main principles of xeriscape gardening including: plan and design, soil preparation, efficient irrigation, plant selection, mulch, reduce turf area, and maintenance. By planting a xeriscape garden, you will conserve water thereby saving time and money!  REGISTER HERE

The second half of the program will feature a brief talk about meditation related topics. This program is for adults and no registration is necessary.

Improve your basic computer skills! Bring your own laptop or use one of ours. In this session, we will learn what a computer is, the basic parts of a computer, and how to use a keyboard and mouse. Registration is required.

Just starting your genealogy research and aren’t sure where to begin? Have you hit a roadblock in your research and need help? Or do you just want to learn about different genealogical resources? Then Genealogy Club is for you! During each session, we will spend time working on our individual research and have the opportunity to bounce our family history questions off of other club members. Occasionally, there will be themed meetings where we will discuss and try out different genealogical resources. You will need to bring a computer for each session to work on your research and to access the different resources. Registration required.

The books we're reading are award winners (The Booker Prize) or have been featured in the public space as a good read. Join us as we discuss these literary gems. You are welcome to attend whether or not you have read or listened to the selection. Ages 18+. Books selected for Fredricksen Reads will be listed on the Fredricksen Library online events calendar.
