Being a caregiver is often a difficult, complicated, unappreciated task, but possibly one of the most important roles you will ever play. This series of five workshops will cover the basics and present an opportunity for participants to share their personal experiences and challenges for the benefit of others in a non-judgmental way. Sessions are facilitated by Glen Dunbar, a semi-retired social gerontologist. No registration required.

Discover how Harris’s entrepreneurial spirit, diplomatic skill, and deep ties with Indigenous communities helped lay the foundations for what would become the city of Harrisburg. Through in-depth research and engaging storytelling, Biser brings to life a critical yet often overlooked chapter in local and state history. This program is hosted by the American Association of University Women Harrisburg Branch.

Aurora, Lights in the Sky

As part of the New Cumberland Earth & Arts Festival, we are learning about the Aurora Borealis from speaker Lou Thieblemont. Also known as the Northern Lights, this naturally-occurring light display in the night sky is the result of solar winds. In olden times, the ancients were mystified, and historical battles were even impacted by their appearance in the sky. You’ll also learn about some sites and apps that alert you to the likelihood of seeing an Aurora.
