This workshop will feature an overview of the Golden Age of Funerals and explore why and how lavish funerals and the exploration of death became such a fashionable preoccupation among people in the Victorian Era.  PowerPoint photos will be shared, illustrating dress, food, and art unique to the times.  There will also be a discussion about enduring philosophical, sociological, and psychological beliefs about death and the afterlife that were reflected in Victorian practices and still can be observed today.  There will be time for discussion and participants may share their own stories and thoughts about death and the afterlife.

This presentation promises to be engaging, visually appealing and enjoyable for a wide range of age groups.  Presented by Stan LeQuire, a PA Master Naturalist who serves on the board of the local Audubon Society, Appalachian Audubon. For many years, he has served as an outdoor guide and as an adult education instructor for bird-watching and natural history. No registration necessary.
