As part of our Daytime Academy at Fredricksen Library, we are offering language immersion conversation groups on a regular basis. Our expert leaders will guide you through discussion, conversation and culture of your chosen language. Some experience in the language is necessary. No registration required.

July 21 & 28, 1 pm in the Community Room
Presented by Lou Thieblemont, a former TWA and American Airlines Captain, this two-part series will address how a large passenger aircraft actually works -- how the plane’s wing develops lift, how flight controls steer the plane, how various systems work and what the pilot is doing during the many phases of the flight. In part 2, we will experience a flight in real time aboard a Boeing 757 through a state-of-the-art flight simulator program. Every switch and instrument works like the real plane and all aspects of navigation, weather, and air traffic control are explained. Registration required.

7 pm - On the lawn (Rain location: inside library)
Join us on Fredricksen’s lawn all summer as we welcome talented performers for an evening of music and song. We’ll close out our Summer Concert Series with everyone’s local favorite – Shea Quinn. In keeping with our Summer Reading theme of All Together Now, Shea will bring the house down with a Beatles tribute! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets! We will have food trucks onsite beginning at 6 pm including: 717 Tacos, Kona Ice and Philadelphia Cheesesteak Co. on the Roll.  All concerts are free to the public and held on the west lawn next to the lower parking lot.
