Bring your American Girl or friend (Our Generation, etc.) doll with you to participate in activities. Recommended ages 8 - 12. Registration required.

The books we're reading are award winners (The Booker Prize) or have been featured in the public space as a good read. Join us as we discuss these literary gems. You are welcome to attend whether or not you have read or listened to the selection. Ages 18+. Books selected for Fredricksen Reads will be listed on the Fredricksen Library online events calendar.

April: The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan 

Overwhelmed by the state of the world and in search of peace, the author turned to the natural world just beyond her window and, specifically, the birds flocking to the feeders in her yard. Her story maps the passage of time--from before the pandemic to the days of quarantine--through daily entries, thoughtful questions, and beautiful original sketches. Registration required.

April: My Antonia by Willa Cather 

The reminiscences of a New York lawyer, Jim Burden, about his boyhood in Nebraska, particularly a young Bohemian girl named Antonia Shimerda, are set against the backdrop of the American assimilation of the immigrant. 

May 6: Cannery Row by John Steinbeck

This program has been cancelled for April. We will meet again in May!  

Book Keepers meets monthly to discuss the best of YA literature. Each month you will get a book to keep. Some months we will all read the same title, some months we will all read our own choice and share our reactions. This program is for teens ages 13-18. Registration is required and begins February 17.
