Let’s get outdoors this summer! Join us for Cumberland County’s first ever GO Cumberland challenge for all ages. Beginning June 1, register at fredricksen.beasntack.org, and then pick up a GO Cumberland booklet (one per family) at the library. Throughout the summer, get out and go hiking. Enter the secret codes you discover and be entered to win prizes. See booklet (avail. June 1) for more details. Sponsored by Wellspan and Cumberland County Library System.

Join us for our 2022 Summer Reading Program for all ages! Earn badges, prizes, and tickets for the grand prize drawings by reading and logging whatever you like and doing activities related to Oceans of Possibilities! Beginning June 1, register at fredricksen.beanstack.org and then stop by the library to grab your summer reading grab and go bag (for Adults and Children while supplies last).
The Summer Reading Program is made possible by the Friends of Fredricksen, The Friends of East Pennsboro Library, our municipalities, Orrstown Bank, UGI, Mid Penn Bank, PPL, PeoplesBank, Weis Markets and additional generous sponsors.

Volunteers from the Harrisburg/West Shore Chess Club will be on hand to assist young chess players and match up competitors. Join us and have fun! Participants are asked to bring a chess set if possible, but not required. No registration required. Recommended Ages, 5-13.

Families with youth ages 6 -12 will plant a container with nectar and larval host plants to attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. The registration fee is $20.00 per youth, $10.00 for each additional youth in the same family. Each youth will create their own pollinator container. The registration fee covers all supplies and materials. Registration is limited to 20 youth. A parent or guardian is required to attend with the youth for the duration of the workshop. Registration deadline is Saturday, June 4. Register online or call Penn State Extension Registration Services toll-free at 1-877-345-0691. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Plant some seeds and decorate colorful labels for this hands-on gardening activity! In partnership with Longwood Garden’s Community Read program, we’ll read their featured 2022 children’s title, We Planted a Tree by Diane Muldrow, and then plant our own egg carton garden! This activity will introduce kids to gardening and offer a creative element to make it their own.
