This is LEGO taken to the next level! We will be using LEGO SPIKE and Bric-Q Motion kits to build moving sets. This program is for tweens ages 9-12. Registration is required and begins May 1.

This program is for Tweens and Teens ages 9-18. Parents may stay to play with their children. Adults without a child will not be admitted.

Join us in the Kunkel Creation Station for a day of building! First, we will build a bridge to cross a gap. Then, we will reverse engineer a paper airplane launcher so that it hits a target (safely of course)! Children will work in groups of 3-4. Come sign up and learn fundamentals in design and teamworking with hands-on experience! Recommended ages 8-10; spots are limited. Registration Required.

Join us in the Kunkel Creation Station as we take our Sphero programmable robots and work through obstacles! These little robots roll around and can be coded; if you’re familiar with Scratch, these are quite similar! Four groups will code their robots to beat the obstacles. The winning group wins a prize! Recommended ages 8-10. Sign up now! Spots are limited; registration required. 

2:00 – 3:00 PM at the Kunkel Creation Station 

Join us to learn basic programming the fun way with Scratch, a website designed by MIT to teach children the fundamentals of coding. This is an introductory-level event for children. We will show children how to use the website and even create their own games! Recommended Ages 8 – 10. Registration Required. 

2PM - Storytime Nook in the Children’s Library

Join us for an exciting American Sign Language (ASL) Storytime! Our special host will share stories and teach children key signs to take part in the program. Students of the Cumberland Valley ASL Club will also stop in to help read books aloud. We will then send children home with a coloring sheet or craft to help remember the ASL they have learned. Recommended ages 3 to 5. No registration required.  

10-11AM 

Children ages 8-12 are invited to learn about and care for the One Seed Grows Garden at Fredricksen Library. Each week will have a new theme--seeds, soil, insects, water, harvesting, and more! We'll dig in the dirt, explore books about the theme, taste the fruits of our labors, and make a take-home project. Please wear clothes that can can dirty. Registration is required.
