Our Escape Rooms challenge you and your friends to solve puzzles and escape before time runs out!  October’s theme is Escape The Holidays!. This program is for tweens ages 9-12. Registration is required and begins September 1.

We’re goin’ up, up, up to Fredricksen library for a glow party sing-along/dance-along screening of K-Pop Demon Hunters! Huntrix/Saja Boys cosplay and Halloween costumes welcome! *please refrain from overly scary/gory costumes and no weapons are allowed.  This program is for tweens ages 9-12. Plot Twisters is a dynamic writing group for teens. Open to writers of fiction, fan fiction, manga, poetry and more. Group members share works in progress and encourage each other to stay on track with writing goals. 5:30 – 6:00 is for socializing; writing sharing/criticism begins at 6:00pm. This program is for teens ages 13-18. No registration is required.   

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

6pm in the Children's Library

Specially trained dogs from K-PETs will be at the library to listen to children read aloud. This program is helpful to children who may be shy or reluctant to read aloud and will encourage them to practice reading independently. For budding readers.  

Recommended ages 6 to 12. Registration required. 

10 am in the Community Room

Get ready to explore, create, learn, and experiment in our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) open discovery stations. STEM stations will be set up for self-guided activities where children can discover concepts and skills that are scientific, creative, and collaborative. 

Recommended ages 3-5 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required. 

6:00 pm in the Kunkle Creation Station

Dig into the science of animals and learn about their physiology, behavior, habitat, and more. Recommended ages 10-12 years old. Registration required.  

November: Bison

4:00 pm in the Kunkle Creation Station

Build good budget habits and learn about savings, setting financial goals, weighing wants and needs, and how to resist impulse purchases. Recommended ages 8-10. Registration required. 

6:30 pm in the Community Room

Volunteers from the Harrisburg/West Shore Chess Club will be on hand to assist young chess players and match up competitors. Join us and have fun! Participants are asked to bring a chess set, if possible but not required. Recommended ages 5 to 13. No Registration Required.
