Nature’s Nursery Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation Education is a non-profit organization that provides medical care to injured, orphaned or ailing wild animals. Nature’s Nursery Nature's Nursery has 30 permanent residents! Join the Library to meet some of their live animal ambassadors, learn how they came to live at the center, and why they cannot be released back into the wild.

Turtle Dance Music Tails & Tales Music, Bubble, and Comedy Show

Flap your wings, jump up and down like five little monkeys jumping on the bed and roar like a polar bear! This performance celebrates famous children's stories and songs about animals! The show will also celebrate biodiversity - the more wild our planet is the healthier it is! Kids will dance, sing, laugh, use their imaginations and connect with new friends.

Teachers of Nature: What’s Up With Your Tail?

Have you ever wondered why animals have tails and what they are used for? The answer is really interesting! Join zookeeper Cindi Cavallini and her live animals in this interactive virtual program to learn about the different uses that animals have for their tails and how they use them.

Junior Paleontologist
For ages 5-8

Younger children can join in on the summer Grab & Go STEAM with this special dinosaur packed kit just for ages 5-8.

Junior paleontologists will first conduct a dig to discover a dinosaur, then create a dinosaur habitat complete with a volcano. This STEAM activity is designed for younger children; ages 5-8 only please. Registration is required and limited.

Balloon Science
For ages 8-12
Registration Required

Experiment with balloons with this Grab & Go STEAM kit! This kit will include the materials and instructions to carry out simple experiments using ordinary balloons and other everyday materials, like straws and string.

Please note that latex balloons will be used: children with a latex allergy should not take part in this activity.  This project is for kids ages 8-12 only, please. Registration is required and limited.

Build-a-Boat
For ages 8-12

Build a working electric motor boat with this Grab & Go STEAM kit! Use common materials to explore buoyancy and power. Design a working electric motor boat with this activity.

Find your hull in the recycling bin (milk jug, foam tray, pool noodles, etc.). Add the motor, propeller and other components. Set it in the water and watch it go. Learn through experimentation and tinkering. This project is for kids ages 8-12 only, please. Registration is required and limited.

Strawbees

Hydraulic Claw

Design and build a hydraulic claw that works just like the games in an arcade! Experiment with hydraulics and engineering with this STEAM kit. Decide between an accordion, chopsticks, or pincer style claw, assemble; then test.

Move the upper cylinder and watch your claw open and close below. We’ll provide a comprehensive guide to get you started, but the final claw design is up to you. Can you design a claw to pick up specific objects (worms, marshmallows, balls)? This project is for kids ages 8-12 only, please. Registration is required and limited.
