Explore the world and learn about different cultures and people around the globe. Program includes reading, activities, and discussion. Each month features a different country or region. Recommended ages 6-8 years old. Registration required.

Volunteers from the Harrisburg/West Shore Chess Club will be on hand to assist young chess players and match up competitors. Join us and have fun! Participants are asked to bring a chess set, if possible but not required. Recommended ages 5 to 13. No Registration Required.

Then, they will break out into teams and “code” their teammates to complete a task! The key will be thinking like a computer! Sign up now; spots are limited! Recommended ages 10-12. Join us for an afternoon of board games, card games, games of skill and strategy. Fun for the entire family. The library has a stash of games to choose from or you are welcome to bring your own. Ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No registration necessary.

Kunkel Creation Station 

Join us to learn basic programming the fun way with Scratch, a website designed by MIT to teach children the fundamentals of coding. This is an introductory-level event for children. We will show children how to use the website and even create their own games! Recommended Ages 8 – 10. Registration Required.

6pm in the Children's Library

Specially trained dogs from K-PETs will be at the library to listen to children read aloud. This program is helpful to children who may be shy or reluctant to read aloud and will encourage them to practice reading independently. For budding readers.
