Italian for Beginners I - Winter 2022

If you have always wanted to learn the Italian language and to share this passion with people who live in this area, this is a great time to do it in the comfort and safety of your home and in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Italian for Beginners classes have successfully been offered in person at Fredricksen for more than 2 years by instructor Anna Maria Bertini Jones. The current situation has opened up the opportunity to explore online instruction options to make the learning experience even more effective and enjoyable. You will still be learning the basics of the Italian language through interactive online classes and group work, but it will also be possible to use a variety of online multimedia resources to develop basic conversation skills and get in touch with cultural topics like cuisine, art, movies, lifestyle, etc.

Classes are very easy to access. You will receive a Zoom link invitation; click on the link and you will be automatically directed to your classroom. During class time students will be learning and collaborating with the instructor’s help and direction. No specific technological skills are required. All you need is a computer/ laptop/tablet and a printer. Ages 16 and older. Cost: $100 for 10 classes. Students will be advised to also purchase a book online. Registration begins December 1 online, by phone, or in person at the library.

This class is designed for those who have already taken Italian for Beginners I or who have an equivalent knowledge. The course is divided into sessions of 10 classes each. The instructor, Anna Maria Bertini-Jones, is an Italian native teacher with extensive experience in teaching Italian in college courses and elective adult classes. If you are unsure if you would fit in the class, we will connect you with the instructor to determine what's right for you.

The New Cumberland Public Library will host Couponing for Extreme Savings on the third Saturdays of the month in the Meeting Room of the library building. Workshops are free and open to the public. Intro. to Digital Photography - Winter 2022 - THIS CLASS IS FULL

6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in the BCC, Upper Level

Do you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera and aren't sure how to use it? Are you still taking photos using only the AUTOMATIC mode? If you answered yes, then this is the perfect class for you! Each class, taught by instructor & photographer, Michael Yatsko, will begin with an exploration of a new topic followed by some hands on application of the technique or idea. Weekly assignments will also be given to reinforce what has been learned in class. During this class you will learn about the history of photography and cameras, the science behind how a DSLR camera works, the exposure triangle - aperture, shutter speed and ISO, many different composition techniques, lenses, and much, much more. In order to participate you need to have a DSLR or mirrorless camera. $150 fee covers all six classes. Ages 13+; Seating is very limited. THIS CLASS IS FULL.
