Ahoy me mateys! How do pirates celebrate the holiday season? They read their favorite story, A Pirate's Night before Christmas and make a gift for their best scallywag. Additional grab and go bags will be made for the craft. Recommended ages, 7-11. Registration required.

Come join us for an evening of dragons! We will talk about dragons from all over the world, read a story about their favorite food, tacos, and Miss Erin will show you how to make (and train) your own “fire” breathing dragon! Recommended ages, 7-11. Masks are required. Register online.

This vibrant, sensory activity featuring pumpkin seeds is a fun way to practice words & colors! Available at the Children's Desk starting Saturday, September 25. No registration required but supplies are limited.
Ages 4-8
This fall STEM challenge will not only get kids outside and engaged with nature, it will also encourage them to use their creativity and problem solving skills to create a leaf sculpture greater than 6 inches tall. Available at the Children's Desk starting Saturday, September 18. No registration required but supplies are limited.

This seasonal craft allows children to strengthen their concentration skills and fine motor muscles to construct a simple yet eye-catching creation. Available at the Children's Desk starting Saturday, September 11. No registration required but supplies are limited.
Reading sessions are held Tuesdays evenings in the library lower level for children up to age 12. Reading to a friendly dog allows children to practice their reading skills in a comforting environment to build their confidence. Three 15-minute time slots: 4:30 pm, 4:50 pm and 5:10 pm. Only one adult per child entering the reading area please. The lower level gets quite crowded with dogs and readers, and we want the children to be able to read with minimum distraction. Thank you for your understanding.
Dogs used for this event are supervised by experienced therapy dog owners.
Learning to read isn't always easy. Reading to dogs can help!
• Reading aloud can feel daunting to some children, so reading to a dog who doesn't judge them is comforting and a great way to practice.
• Reading to dogs is a fun experience so children look forward to practicing reading rather than thinking of it as a solitary exercise.
• Reading to a dog and petting dogs relieves stress and helps to calm nervous readers.

While your tweens may be busy reading school curriculum books, we hope they can kick back with some fun and world-expanding graphic novels featuring diverse characters! Participants will receive a copy of the book which must be returned, and will have a chance to discuss the book with peers. In honor of back-to-school season, this month's pick is New Kid by Jerry Craft. Registration required.
