Using colorful dots and a fun cornstalk background, kids will practice letter recognition and create a colorful corn husk! Available at the Children’s Desk starting Saturday, November 20. No registration required but supplies are limited.

Kids will practice following instructions and learning shapes with this simple seasonal craft! Available at the Children’s Desk starting Saturday, November 13. No registration required but supplies are limited.

Hoot, hoot, too cute! We dare you to find a more adorable craft – kids will make one or more owls using cupcake liners and other commonplace supplies. Sure to bring a smile to their faces! Available at the Children’s Desk starting Saturday, November 6.

Make these two fall harvest foods out of paper strips and toilet paper rolls! This craft fosters enthusiasm and curiosity for seasonal foods while strengthening kids’ fine motor skills to construct these unique autumnal table toppers. Available at the Children’s Desk starting Saturday, October 9th. No registration required but supplies are limited.

Ages 6-12

Children interested in reading practice can sign up to read to a therapy animal. Children are encouraged to read, engage, and connect with the pet. Bring your favorite book or two to share with one of our animal friends. Registration for a 20-minute reading slot is required and space is limited. 

Caring Hearts Pet Therapy program seeks to improve a child’s reading and communication skills with the assistance of trained therapy animal teams.

Ages 6-10

Each month we will showcase handpicked titles ideal for early readers alongside custom resources to help deepen children’s engagement with the books. This month’s pick is Dragons and Marshmallows by Asia Citro, the first book in the “Zoey and Sassafras” series which highlights child-led inquiry science.

Young readers will be introduced to the first book in a popular series to get them interested in reading more. Participants will receive a copy of the book which must be returned after the program.
